Department of Wildlife and Protected Reserve

Welcome to the Department of Wildlife and Protected Area Management

Enhancing life, improving health, & building connections

Message from the Chair

In today’s interconnected world, the regenerative use of wildlife resources extends beyond national borders—it demands a landscape-level, cross-boundary approach. Global challenges such as climate change require you, as a future manager of natural resources, scientist, or educator, to think and act internationally. This program, alongside your higher education in any green discipline, will broaden your perspective and deepen your understanding of integrated natural resource management.

We offer a dynamic array of undergraduate and graduate courses designed to prepare students for meaningful careers in research, conservation, park and wilderness management, ecotourism, and recreation. Our graduates make a difference—from enhancing local recreational spaces to managing iconic national parks.

Indeed, two of Nepal’s most celebrated national parks—Chitwan National Park and Parsa National Park—serve as the living classrooms for our Hetauda Campus.  Here, students and faculty forge strong bonds with each other, the land, and the profession—connections that empower them to make lasting  impacts.

Our Vision

We envision a global community that values and celebrates parks, recreation, and tourism. We contribute to individual, community, and planetary well-being through transformative education, research, and action—grounded in the preventive, developmental, and regenerative powers of nature.

Our Mission

We are committed to creating, sharing, and applying knowledge in the fields of parks, recreation, and regenerative tourism. Our goal is to inspire students, inform policy, address societal needs, promote regenerative practices, and advocate for the health of people, communities, and the planet.
